Job description


The Greer Group is seeking an experienced Plant Purchasing Buyer to join out Manufacturing clients team in Mebane, NC. This is a 3-6 month contract position with the strong potential to transition into a permanent, full-time role based on performance and business needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented purchasing professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys building supplier relationships, managing inventory, and ensuring materials are available to support production. Hours: Monday-Friday, 8: 00am-5: 00pm
Pay: $35/hour (paid weekly).
Position Type: 3-6 Months, but could extend/turn into a temp to hire role.
Travel: Will need to travel to Sanford from Mebane at least once a week.(reimbursed for miles traveled to and from plant).
Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage to reach PPM and MPM budget targets. For any Quality or Delivery issue, ensure that appropriate action plans are implemented in the plant by the SQA or plant Supply chain team. Charge the Suppliers for all justified costs related to non quality or mis delivery costs they would generate and ensure effective payment.
  • Manage the suppliers economics performance follow-up in the plants and run, in coordination with the Regional Commodity Buyers, all necessary action plans to ensure budget targets achievement (negotiation, resourcing, VA/VE., etc.).
  • Follow up the plants Supplier AVL, propose and contribute to AVL sizing adjustment.
  • Initiate Material Committees in the plant and support productivity actions implementation.
  • Work closely with the Division Product Productivity Director for best practices deployment and breakthrough actions implementation.
  • Ensure that all necessary supplier and part information are correctly registered in the plant ERP (and relevant systems).
  • Ensure proper ordering, invoicing control, cost control and reporting for DM and IDM.
  • Prioritizes local resolution of issues but escalade to Regional Commodity when needed.
  • Ensure transparency, accuracy and consistency of data in the purchasing information systems
  • Ensure the PAP system is kept updated on a weekly basis for all the Regional plants.
  • Work closely with plant's controllers and Regional purchasing controller to report purchasing performance.
  • Manage accurate and on time monthly reporting by the plants according to Division's process and with Division's tools.

Job Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Commodity or Plant Buyer in an industrial environment
  • Masters degree in Engineering, with a specialization in international purchasing, or related experience.
  • Experienced to International matrix organization. Overseas experience a plus
  • Results oriented with strong written and oral communications skills
  • Leadership and charisma.
  • Must pass a background check and drug test.
  • Must have a Valid Drivers license.
  • Experience with Excel, as well as entering data/reporting's.
  • Skills with interacting with teams, and higher up personnel's.
