Job Description

Allied Universal® is hiring a Purchasing Specialist. The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for the timely procurement, delivery, and documentation of business materials, as well as evaluating suppliers to find the best deals possible on goods that are needed for Installation Projects.

  • Serve as a key member of the purchasing team by managing a high volume of purchase orders, supporting vendor relationships, and ensuring materials and services are delivered on time.
  • Position can sit in Carrollton, TX, Omaha, NE, or Lombard, IL

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate logistical planning for major projects, ensuring materials and equipment are available when needed
  • Locate and reallocate excess materials from other branches to fill purchase requisitions when appropriate, to minimize waste and reduce costs
  • Assist with project equipment allocation to ensure resources are effectively distributed and available for field teams
  • Maintain focus on all KPI related reports to ensure effective performance
  • Obtain competitive quotations from qualified vendors for supplies and services, including conducting analysis and making recommendations based on total cost to the company
  • Process requisitions and purchase orders for all regional locations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and maintain strong communication with stakeholders to ensure timely product returns, streamline back-end processes, and effectively support project and procurement needs
  • Optimize procurement costs by analyzing pricing, freight, and total cost impact when evaluating purchasing options
  • Procure products in a timely manner, considering product lead times and company cash-flow constraints to maintain financial and operational balance
  • Negotiate with vendors and contractors on price, mode of shipping, and delivery timelines to maximize value and efficiency

QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of purchasing experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Organized and analytical decision-making capabilities
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Must possess excellent follow-up skills both internally and externally

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):

  • SAP by Design experience
  • Experience in the construction, technology or security integration industry
  • Knowledge of materials, products, and the security market in area of specialization
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and locations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

BENEFITS:

  • Wage: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

  • Eight paid holidays annually, five sick days, and four personal days
  • Vacation time is offered at an accrual rate of 3.08 hours biweekly. Unused vacation is only paid out where required by law
