With 15 distribution centers strategically located throughout the nation, HF Foods Group aims to supply the increasing demand for Asian American restaurant cuisine.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for supporting business operations by assisting the buyer or purchasing manager to submit the purchase order to our supplier or vendor, maintain the relationships and follow up the products that we purchased until we fully received it into our inventory. Bilingual of Chinese Mandarin is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform vendor research and selection to enhance profitability, reduce operating costs and boost efficiency
  • Maintain cordial working relationships with vendors and supervise vendor activities
  • Enter purchase orders into internal databases, oversee shipping schedules and maintain purchase records
  • Work with receiving team in the warehouse to compare deliveries with purchase orders to identify discrepancies
  • Conduct ongoing market research to identify beneficial purchase agreements and potential vendors
  • Negotiate appropriate contracts for pricing and supply
  • Organize and update database of suppliers, delivery times, invoices, and quantity of supplies
  • Analyze potential vendors and suppliers for future project needs
  • Collaborate with financial team members on contracts, invoicing, and other payment matters
  • Any other duties as assigned by the management

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • In-depth knowledge of purchasing functions, inventory and supply management systems
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational skills, a good understanding of sourcing and the ability to maintain vendor relationships
  • Direct experience with spreadsheet computer applications
  • Bilingual Chinese Mandarin is preferred.

EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree or B.Sc. in Logistics, Purchase and Supply, Business Administration or related fields are typically preferred)
  • Experience in purchasing is a plus
