Job description

SMS Equipment is looking for a Procure-to-Pay Specialist to support and execute the full procure-to-pay lifecycle for corporate procurement activities while providing analytical insight, reporting, and market intelligence to support effective decision-making. Reporting to the Team Lead, Purchasing, this role works closely with Purchasing, Finance, and Supply Chain stakeholders to ensure compliant, efficient, and well-governed procurement, supplier, and payment processes.

Work Location: Acheson, Alberta.
Salary: $60,000 to $70,000 per annum.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid, providing the flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
Schedule: Monday to Friday.
 
What You'll Do:
  • Execute end-to-end procure-to-pay activities including requisition review, purchase order creation, receipt coordination, and invoice resolution.
  • Ensure transactions comply with purchasing policies, approval authorities, and financial controls.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on P2P processes and issue resolution.
  • Partner with Finance and Accounts Payable to support accurate and timely payment processing.
  • Coordinate supplier onboarding activities, ensuring documentation, approvals, and risk reviews are complete.
  • Maintain supplier data integrity and support supplier updates and offboarding activities.
  • Develop and maintain procurement and payment reports, dashboards, and analytics.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Provide actionable insights and market intelligence to support sourcing and business decisions.
  • Manage the corporate purchasing card program, including card issuance, maintenance, compliance monitoring, and expense management administration.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through process standardization, governance, and digital tools.
  • Apply sound judgment to ensure policy compliance and support corrective actions when required.
What You Bring:
The successful candidate has post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business, Commerce, or a related field, along with 2 to 3 years of experience supporting procure-to-pay, procurement, or supply chain processes. You possess strong analytical capabilities and are comfortable working with data, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
 
Other requirements include:
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in reporting, dashboards, and data interpretation.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of procurement, supplier, and financial data structures.
  • Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to influence without authority and collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and enterprise ERP or procurement systems.
  • Experience or interest in automation, AI, OCR, or RPA technologies is an asset.
