Mt. Clemens Montessori Academy hiring a Pupil Accounting.
Mt. Clemens Montessori Academy is a K-5 public charter school serving over 300 students. The school also houses a Montessori Preschool Program for children 33 months-5 years of age enrolling 50 students. The school was founded in 1970 and has been named Charter "School of Excellence" by the State of Michigan based on state assessment scores.
The Pupil Accounting Specialist provides guidance and support to schools regarding enrollment, attendance, pupil accounting, and state reporting requirements. This position ensures accurate and timely student data reporting while supporting schools with compliance requirements, audits, and related documentation.
Essential Duties:
  • Provide guidance and support to schools regarding pupil accounting, enrollment, attendance, and state reporting requirements.
  • Review enrollment, attendance, retention, and other pupil accounting data to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Assist with required state submissions through the Michigan Student Data System (MSDS).
  • Provide leadership with accurate and timely pupil accounting reports.
  • Assist schools with preparing documentation for audits, ISD reviews, and other reporting requirements.
  • Monitor reporting deadlines and communicate requirements to schools to support timely submissions.
  • Provide training and resources to school staff regarding pupil accounting procedures and best practices.
  • Support compliance activities, including maintaining required documentation and transparency records.
  • Assist with grant reporting and submissions as assigned.
  • Support Board of Directors with meeting preparation, agendas, packets, minutes, and official records as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student, school, and organizational information.
  • Collaborate with school leadership, internal departments, authorizers, and government entities to resolve questions and ensure compliance.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or completion of at least two years of study at an institution of higher education required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in pupil accounting, school operations, compliance, or a related field preferred.
  • Pupil accounting and/or MSDS experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and web-based applications.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with school staff, leadership, government entities, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
