130Job Summary: The position of senior project engineer encompasses responsibilities of both design engineering and project management. This person will be a technical subject matter expert for mechanical engineering designs and applications for liquid cooling systems, including R&D activities or projects for new technologies. The role will focus on products for use in data centers, but may also include products in the semiconductor, medical and industrial market products. This person will also be a lead customer technical interface and provide management of some new product development teams.
The individual would work with a small team of electrical, software and manufacturing engineers to bring the new product though its full product development process, which includes early concept thru production support. The individual would be responsible for component or sub-system R&D, mechanical component and sensor selection, mechanical schematics and working with the electrical engineering on fluid controls. This position would develop the layout of the mechanical pumping and cooling systems, as well as the structure or enclosure for the product. The person would work with the full engineering team for testing and debugging of the system under development. The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the product's mechanical hardware, sensors and fluid controls meet the functional and performance requirements, while working with the team to deliver on schedule and on budget. Technical consulting for other project teams as required.
The position also requires project management of new product development teams. This person is required to provide team leadership, planning, execution and communication of new product development deliverables. Strong organization, planning, active listening skills with an openness for different approaches and ways of working, development of team collaboration and leading by example are key skills to demonstrating a balance of performance, quality, cost and schedule in design.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Interface with the design team and customers to understand and develop product specifications. Evaluate trade-offs between performance/functionality, quality, cost and schedule.
• Design mechanical pumping and cooling system selecting mechanical components and sensors. Key mechanical items include pumps, tanks, heat exchangers and fans.
• Design mechanical portion of flow and heat transfer control solutions.
• Create mechanical product schematics.
• Develop and execute verification test plans.
• Write test procedures and engineering reports.
• Create new items and BOM's for the electrical portion of the design.
• Manage the mechanical panel portion for new product development. Ensure that cost, performance and schedule goals are achieved. Actively manage risk mitigation efforts.
• Consult as an SME with different project teams regarding technical issues
• Follow established procedures; drive continuous improvement and update procedures applicable to your area as necessary.
• Provide product support from early concept, through product development and throughout production.
• Support failure and root cause analysis of prototype and production level products.
• Lead the product development team, focusing on concurrent design, teamwork and stressing a balance of performance, quality, cost and schedule in design.
• Create and maintain program plans, schedules and deliverables for the project team.
• Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to internal and external project stakeholders.
• Candidate would interact with other Boyd product team members globally, as most programs require use of global resources within Boyd.
• Travel - limited. Typically less than 5% per year. Domestic and International travel is possible.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Education - BSME minimum. Willing to consider other similar education if substantial experience is impressive and directly applicable. Project Management Professional (PMP) is desirable.
• 10+ Years of hands on experience designing mechanical pumping systems.
• 10+ Years of hands on experience designing cooling systems with heat exchangers and fans, with a preference for experience in data centers.
• 3+ Years of hands on experience leading new product development teams.
• Working knowledge of engineering tools:
o PLM software
o MRP siftware (Oracle cloud a plus)
o Knowledgeable / experienced in working with temperature, pressure, flow and other sensors
• Solid understanding of total system testing, debugging, manufacturing, low cost, high quality & reliability .
• Able to work independently and prioritize work based on the candidates understanding of the given overall project requirements as well as other projects within the organization.
• Good experience and skills in technical problem solving, analyzing system risk, identifying options, making recommendations.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills.
• Experience / Knowledge with Solidworks is desirable.

Base compensation $130K-$160K. Bonus Eligible.
