Position Summary

The Trailer Inspection Clerk plays a key role in ensuring safe and efficient terminal operations. You will perform trailer inspections, support drivers during check-in and check-out, complete yard audits, and ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date. This role involves both administrative and physical tasks and requires strong attention to detail and communication.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation

  • $14.50 per hour
  • Full-time, stable weekly schedule

Key Responsibilities

Trailer Check-In

  • Greet drivers and collect trailer, truck, and load details
  • Perform exterior and interior trailer inspections for damage or contamination
  • Approve or reject trailers based on safety standards
  • Enter inspection data into Gate Pass and KBX systems
  • Direct approved trailers to assigned dock doors

Trailer Check-Out

  • Process outbound loads and verify pickup numbers
  • Confirm seal numbers for Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Costco loads
  • Issue load confirmations and collect driver signatures

Yard Audits

  • Conduct physical yard walks
  • Verify trailer locations against system records
  • Update systems and report discrepancies

Documentation & Communication

  • Answer phones, emails, and radio calls
  • Maintain accurate data entry and inspection logs
  • Submit trailer rejection reports
  • Coordinate with dock operations

Shift Closeout

  • Complete system entries
  • Organize paperwork
  • Communicate outstanding issues to the next shift

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1–2 years logistics/warehouse/transportation experience
  • Trailer inspection experience preferred
  • Steel toe safety shoes required
  • Proficient with computers and data entry
  • Ability to walk the yard, climb into trailers, and work indoors/outdoors
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening

Shift & PPE Requirements

Shift Details

  • Shift: Night Shift
  • Schedule: 2-2-3 Rotating Schedule
  • Hours: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Work Environment: Indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions
  • Status: Full-Time

PPE Requirements

  • Required: Safety shoes (steel toe)
  • Provided by Company: Safety vest, gloves, hard hat (as needed), and other required PPE
  • Physical Demands: Walking extended distances, climbing into trailers, standing for long periods
