Sofidel America of Inola, OK is currently seeking a Pulp Feeding Operator in Paper Mill Dept. We are searching for a candidate who is local to the area and is looking for a long-term role in a stable environment. Your expertise will make you an important part of our team!

Schedule: 2-2-3, rotating, 12 hour shifts from 6 to 6.
Pulp Feeder Operator
SCOPE:
Perform functions, assisting the paper machine leader and shift supervisor, to ensure safe, efficient, and productive operation of the paper mill and identify and resolve operating and equipment issues guided by precedent and working within the limits of established policies. Continuously supports Sofidel's Employee Personal Practice Policy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Supports Sofidel America's Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to promote a safe, sanitary and hygienically sound workplace.
  • Work from written and verbal instructions as well as production schedule.
  • Oversee the addition of baled and converting broke into the pulping systems in the paper mill. This includes filling pulp lanes, inspecting pulp, and removing bale wire.
  • Add the prescribed amount of chemical to break down wet strength in the converting broke pulper.
  • Perform first level maintenance on pulping systems as necessary to ensure optimal machine operation.
  • Operate forklift to move and process purchased pulp bales, converting broke bales, cut reels, and chemicals. May also perform forklift duties as directed by the Paper Machine Leader (machine tender).
  • Assist with housekeeping duties and maintain the organization and cleanliness of the facility.
  • Learn and receive qualification for next job in line of progression on machine.
  • Manage the process of receiving full propane tanks and returning empties. Ensure the propane storage area is kept in good operating condition.

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.
  • Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Clamp truck, hoist, wrapper, hand tools, test devices and computerized machine controls.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and quality and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when in the plant and warehouse areas. PPE will include safety shoes, eye and ear protection, reflective vests and hairnets or hats along with any other necessary protection. Temperatures in the plant/warehouse can range a great deal from season to season. The employee will be exposed to paper dust and employees will also be exposed to noise levels that will require hearing protection.
