Job Summary

Responsible for performing highly technical estimates for Transmission line and substation projects, including very complex projects, in a safe, efficient and economical manner. This position is responsible for complying with defined project scoping and estimating procedures; gathering and integrating estimate and cost information to build & update master estimating cost models and databases; developing criteria for estimation and use of project and portfolio contingency; working with project stakeholders (i.e. project management, engineering, planning, construction, contractors, etc.) to develop, implement and continuously improve scoping and estimating processes; and mentoring and training less experienced Project Estimators.

  • Demonstrate effective leadership, team building and meeting management skills.
  • Demonstrate a high-level of confidence in the ability to lead a team and a project to successful conclusion.
  • Demonstrate outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with all stakeholders including team members, sponsors, management and senior management.
  • Demonstrate an economic and business acumen with an understanding of the Engineering & Design, Procurement, Contracting, Estimating, Construction and Test & Checkout procedures and processes.
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking, planning, risk assessment and prioritization of project activities and skills.
  • Demonstrate conflict management skills to resolve disputes and to maximize synergies with an overriding goal to do the "right thing" for the company.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of scope management.
  • Be accountable for project assignments.
  • Develop the skills of organizing project activities, delegating project task assignments, setting team requirements and expectations to manage deliverables, and holding team members accountable.
  • Develop the ability to evaluate and determine the skill sets and capabilities needed of team members to assure project success.
  • Develop a high level of proficiency and advanced knowledge of construction methodologies.
  • Position may require extended hours to accomplish assigned tasks and meet project requirements and schedules.
What we're looking for:Engineer Sr- (SG8)
  • Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related engineering experience along with a bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*;
  • or 2 years of related engineering experience along with a master's degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*;
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.
  • *ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
  • Individuals with a bachelor's degree in engineering technology can satisfy this degree requirement, if they obtain a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license.
Acceptable alternative is:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited bachelor's program.
  • ** Confirmation is required to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.
  • **VP or above may waive the requirement for a degree from a university with a non-ABET accredited program
Engineering Principal - (SG9)
  • Has typically acquired 8 or more years of related engineering experience along with a bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*;
  • or 6 years of related engineering experience along with a master's or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is preferred for this position unless approval to waive this requirement is given by the organization's EVP.
  • *ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
  • Individuals with a bachelor's degree in engineering technology can satisfy this degree requirement, if they obtain a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license.
