The Opportunity

The Commercial Construction Project Engineer plays a vital role in supporting Project Managers and Superintendents throughout every phase of construction.

This position is responsible for coordinating project documentation, assisting with scheduling and budgeting, supporting field operations, and helping ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to ECI's quality standards.

Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, proactive communication, and a desire to continuously learn and grow within commercial construction.


What You'll DoProject Coordination
  • Support Project Managers and Superintendents from preconstruction through project closeout.
  • Assist with monitoring project budgets, forecasting, and financial tracking.
  • Review construction documents and specifications for constructability, scheduling impacts, and coordination.
  • Assist with project buyout and estimating support when needed.
  • Help maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project.
Documentation & Administration
  • Prepare, track, and maintain RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project logs.
  • Coordinate shop drawing reviews and required approvals.
  • Maintain accurate project records, as-built drawings, and closeout documentation.
  • Attend Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
  • Provide administrative support for Project Managers and Superintendents.
Field Support
  • Assist with tracking inspections, testing, and municipal approvals.
  • Monitor project documentation related to safety compliance alongside the Superintendent.
  • Help identify discrepancies or omissions within construction documents.
  • Support project teams in maintaining schedule, quality, and communication throughout construction.
Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Owners, Architects, Engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Communicate professionally and proactively with both field and office teams.
  • Support multiple commercial projects while maintaining organization and attention to detail.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate demonstrates:

  • 2–4 years of experience as a Project Engineer or similar role with a Commercial General Contractor.
  • Experience supporting ground-up and tenant improvement commercial construction projects.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Bluebeam experience.
  • Microsoft Project experience.

  • Understanding of commercial construction scheduling, budgeting, and project controls.
  • Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
