Job Summary

The Branch Safety Specialist serves as the branch safety program owner and trusted advisor to branch leadership and field teams. This role acts as a subject matter expert, traveling to job sites within the assigned territory (20-30% travel) to partner with clients and operational leaders. Responsibilities include designing and implementing safety systems, building customized safety plans, ensuring compliance with Cal/OSHA and company standards, and driving continuous improvement to reduce risk and enhance operational excellence. The position exercises discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance, including policy development, program selection, budget recommendations, and prioritization of corrective actions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Branch Program Ownership: Develop, implement, and maintain the Branch Safety Plan aligned with corporate EHS requirements and business objectives. Customer Safety Engagement: Conduct job site visits to evaluate safety practices, identify risks, and collaborate with clients to create tailored safety plans that meet regulatory and company standards. Policy & Procedure Development: Draft, revise, and publish safety policies, SOPs, and safe work practices; ensure adoption and sustained compliance across branch and customer sites. Training & Learning: Deliver instructor-led and toolbox trainings for internal teams and client personnel; verify competency and manage LMS record keeping. Incident & Claim Management: Lead investigations and root cause analyses; partner with Operations, Corporate Safety, HR, and Claims on corrective actions and case management. Data Analytics & Reporting: Own safety metrics (TRIR, DART, near-miss reports, audit scores, training completion); analyze dashboards and drive continuous improvement. Fleet Safety Oversight: Ensure driver qualification compliance, coaching, collision review, and preventive maintenance adherence; review telematics insights with fleet and safety teams. Leadership Coaching: Advise managers and client teams on safety leadership behaviors, accountability, and performance improvement. Continuous Improvement: Champion risk reduction initiatives, safety culture enhancement, and operational leadership engagement.

Qualifications

High school diploma required; bachelor's degree in safety, environmental health, or related field preferred. 3+ years in safety or field operations; HVAC or construction industry experience a plus. Proven success in program ownership and influencing leaders. OSHA 30-hour required; CPR/First Aid required (or obtain within 90 days), and CHST, ASP, or STSC highly preferred. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to conduct training and speak confidently to groups. Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with safety management software preferred. Ability to walk job sites, climb ladders, and lift up to 25 lbs.; travel to branch and customer locations as needed.
