LOCATION: Jefferson-Lewis BOCES and Affiliated Regional Program Sites

Compensation

Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications and will be negotiated with the school district making the appointment.

Responsibilities/Duties

Selected candidates must be prepared to serve in any one of the 17 component school districts supported by Jefferson-Lewis-Hamilton-Herkimer-Oneida BOCES. Assignments may arise throughout the school year and may vary in duration based on the needs of the requesting school district. This is an ongoing recruitment. Admission to the candidate pool does not guarantee an assignment.

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of the assigned school or program.
  • Foster a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment.
  • Maintain continuity of school operations, programs, procedures, and expectations.
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate faculty and staff as appropriate to the assignment.
  • Promote high-quality instruction and support student achievement.
  • Collaborate with district and BOCES leadership, teachers, support staff, families, students, and community partners.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with all school community stakeholders.
  • Support student attendance, behavior management, discipline practices, and social-emotional needs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, New York State Education Department requirements, Board of Education policies, collective bargaining agreements, and district procedures.
  • Support emergency response efforts, school safety planning, and crisis management.
  • Provide leadership continuity during transitions and assist with preparation for the incoming permanent administrator.
  • When appropriate, provide executive coaching, mentoring, and consultation to district administrators to support leadership development, organizational effectiveness, and continuity of operation.
  • Complete other responsibilities assigned by the Superintendent or appropriate BOCES administrator.
Qualifications
  • Possess successful experience as a principal in a public school setting.
  • Hold a valid New York State School Building Leader (SBL) Certificate.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of public school operations, instructional leadership, student support systems, personnel supervision, school safety, and family and community engagement.
  • Demonstrate the ability to enter a school community, quickly assess needs, establish trust, and provide effective leadership.
  • Be willing and able to serve in any of the component school districts or BOCES programs supported by Jefferson-Lewis-Hamilton-Herkimer-Oneida BOCES.
