Job description

St. Margaret School, an elementary school located in Bel Air, Maryland, is seeking a qualified full-time assistant principal to begin in the 2026-2027 school year. As a member of the School Leadership Team, the assistant principal supports the principal in all day-to-day operations of the school, ensuring that instruction aligns with the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the school. In collaboration with the principal, the assistant principal also ensures that programs reflecting the Catholic identity of the school are planned, implemented, and evaluated in accordance with the direction of the Department of Catholic Schools.
Essential Functions
  • Assist the principal in defining and communicating the school's mission, goals, and expectations.
  • Provide instructional leadership, in concert with the principal, for the implementation of the curriculum of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
  • Assist the principal in the supervision and mentoring of faculty and staff.
  • Support faculty in the supervision of students and administration of the school's Code of Conduct.
  • Assist in determining and implementing school organization, student placement and evaluation, and services and programs that provide for the needs of the students.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, administrative and supervisory personnel, parents, and community.
  • Engage in professional and community activities as an official representative of the school.

Position Qualifications
  • Practicing Catholic with a demonstrated commitment to the mission of Catholic education.
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in educational administration, supervision, curriculum development, or education.
  • Appropriate MSDE Certification.
  • A minimum of five years teaching experience in Catholic schools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be comfortable with technology including GSuite, Google Classroom, and school management programs such as Power School.
  • Prior experience in school administration preferred.
