Founded in 2002, KCS Public Relations (KCS|PR) is a woman-owned public relations and marketing firm based in the Coastal Bend. KCS|PR provides strategic communications, public relations, marketing, digital solutions, and community engagement support for clients across a range of sectors, including industry, engineering, government, small business, and nonprofit organizations. 

As a DBE and HUB-certified firm, KCS|PR is recognized for its expertise in public participation, stakeholder engagement, media relations, crisis communications, and community outreach. Our team is committed to delivering thoughtful, high-quality communications strategies that help clients build trust, strengthen relationships, and enhance their reputations. 

Position Summary 

KCS Public Relations is seeking an experienced professional to serve as a Public Relations Associate. This role is responsible for leading client accounts, developing and implementing strategic communications initiatives, managing stakeholder engagement efforts, and providing communications counsel to a diverse portfolio of clients. 

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, relationship builder, and project manager who can oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously while delivering exceptional client service and strategic guidance. 

This is a full-time hybrid position based in Victoria, Texas. Candidates must live in or near the Victoria area and be available for regular in-person work, local travel, and occasional evening meetings or events as needed.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Manage client relationships and serve as a primary point of contact for assigned accounts 
  • Develop and implement strategic communications, public relations, and stakeholder engagement plans 
  • Provide communications counsel and recommendations that support client goals and business objectives 
  • Lead community relations, public involvement, outreach, and stakeholder engagement initiatives 
  • Develop key messaging, communication materials, presentations, reports, and outreach content 
  • Oversee project execution, timelines, deliverables, and client communications 
  • Conduct research and analysis related to public opinion, stakeholder concerns, industry trends, and community issues 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction 
  • Support business development efforts, proposal preparation, and relationship-building activities 
  • Represent the firm professionally at client meetings, public events, industry functions, and community engagement activities 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, business, political science, or a related field OR
  • Three to five years of professional experience in communications, public relations, marketing, stakeholder engagement, public affairs, community relations, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively 
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to multitask, lead and work cooperatively with a team  
  • Ability to critically think, problem solve, and delegate tasks 
  • Interest in community engagement, public participation, and strategic communications 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and common digital communication tools 
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms and online communications best practices preferred
