The Opportunity:

The Facility Program Assistant - Childminding supports the successful operation of preschool, childminding, and early years programs by helping create a safe, welcoming, and developmentally supportive environment. This roleย assistsย with activity setup, participant engagement, basic care routines, andย day-to-dayย program tasks, contributing to smooth program delivery and positive experiences for children and families.ย 

Top Key Responsibilities:

  • Support recreation programs and events by: Assisting participants, staff, and instructors, Setting up and taking down equipment and spaces, Ensuring supplies and equipment are available and used safely, Maintaining basic knowledge of assigned programs, Sharing participant feedback with appropriate staff
  • Provide excellent customer service by: Greeting and assisting patrons in a friendly, professional manner, Answering questions and addressing concerns, Verifying registrations, memberships, and wristbands, Following customer service standards and principles
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming facility by: Monitoring assigned areas and patron activity, Managing traffic flow in public spaces, Participating in emergency response procedures, Identifying and addressing unsafe conditions
  • Support facility cleanliness and upkeep by: Performing general housekeeping and light maintenance tasks, Storing equipment properly, Reporting maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate staff
  • Follow health and safety requirements by: Complying with organizational health and safety policies, Participating in required training, inspections, and incident reporting
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by a supervisor

As our preferred candidate, you will have:

  • Grade 10 or equivalent.
  • Early Childhood Level I Certification
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated high level of verbal, written, and listening skills.
  • Intermediate First Aid Certificate
  • Commitment to the City's Cornerstone Values.

Hours of Work:

Hours of work as scheduled, with no minimum guarantee. Availability required for weekends, evenings, weekdays, early mornings and potential split shifts as business needs are required.
