Job description

This position will be cross trained between the Dietary and Housekeeping departments. Must be willing to work between both locations (Bentonville and Springdale). Must be willing to work 8 hour day time shifts. General Description: Maintains proper housekeeping and laundry responsibilities following infection control standards within established policies and procedures of the organization. Perform a variety of general cooking and cleaning tasks, as outlined by Housekeeping/Kitchen Manager in the following areas: kitchen, patient rooms, common living areas and public bathrooms in Hospice Homes; facility, conference rooms, chapel, library, children's center, common areas, offices, kitchens and bathrooms. Assist with laundry or kitchen responsibilities as directed. Follow department practices and procedures. Operate standard institutional cleaning equipment. Gather and dispose of trash and waste materials using specified bags and/or containers. Keep equipment, tools and work areas neat and orderly. Attend all meetings as required. Participate in educational programs, in-service meetings and fire drills. Maintain prompt and regular attendance. Perform other related duties as assigned.Requirements: Knowledge and ability to operate standard institutional cleaning equipment and various cleaning hand tools and supplies. Knowledge of various cleaning agents and/or chemicals. Ability to work with strong cleaning and disinfecting solutions. Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to perform a variety of repetitive manual tasks that require agility and manual dexterity. Ability to learn routine tasks quickly. Ability to work effectively with a diverse population. Must maintain a current satisfactory TB skin test. Must be able to communicate & document effectively. One year prior experience in institutional setting preferred.
