Job Title: Library Circulation Desk Student Assistant

Department: Library

Supervisor: Nita Williams/Jordan Stackhouse

Starting Rate of Pay: $8.00

Length of Time: Eligible for rehire on a semester basis.

Smith Library and the Wanek Learning Commons provides the HPU community with resources for academic and leisure information needs. The student will gain experience working in an academic library, while enhancing your interpersonal and communication skills.

Job Description

Responsible for the check in and out of library materials, maintains the copiers and printers, distributes reserves materials as needed, answers the phone and directional questions, keeps the circulation area neat, and other duties assigned.

Job Location/ Hours Required

The candidate will perform most/all job duties in HPU Libraries. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to 10 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs circulation duties
  • Direct patrons to necessary people and areas of the library
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must be able to work independently, take initiative, and communicate effectively with library staff, students, and visitors.
