Library Assistants- Muskogee

The Muskogee Public Library (MPL) is seeking a qualified, energetic, and creative individual to join our team and support public services, outreach, and assigned programming. This position plays an essential role in providing exceptional customer service, strengthening community engagement, and contributing to the smooth and welcoming operation of the library each day. We are looking to fill two part-time library assistant positions.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or two years of college
  • Two years of related library experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and social networking platforms
  • Experience speaking and presenting to the public

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach to local communities and represent the library at community events.
  • Assist in planning and delivering children's, youth and adult programming
  • Provide customer services at patron public service points, including circulation functions
  • Issue and renew library cards; update and maintain patron records
  • May assist with the management of the meeting room calendar and communicate applicable policies to patrons
  • Collect payments, operate the cash register, and assist as needed to reconcile daily transactions
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Compensation & Schedule:

  • Hourly Rate: $15.00 per hour
  • Status: Part-time 15-18 hour per week; may include some evenings and rotating Saturdays
