Job Responsibilities
  • Provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies, and /or procedures, with a focus on immunizations for all age categories
  • Provides comprehensive assessments of male/female patients, which may include genitalia exams
  • Collects specimens, performs lab tests, including pregnancy tests, and conducts microscopic assessments
  • Obtains Health History
  • Provides education, treatments, and administers medications and vaccinations
  • May conduct home visits, participate in health fairs, serve on committees, and make presentations
  • Responds to Public Health Emergencies
  • Provides exceptional customer service and maintains HIPAA Standards
  • Maintains CPR Certification

Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university, completion of a PHN course within one (1) year of hire, and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification. (Please mail or bring a copy of your college transcript or diploma for the interview-you must have an official transcript prior to the start date). Physical Requirements include occasional lifting of up to 45 lbs.

  • Previous employment with any state's Department of Public Health or a County Board of Health
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Baccalaureate-level health assessment course
  • Experience with performing physical exams on males and females, including genitalia
  • Experience administering immunizations
  • TB experience, such as contact investigation, treatments, including Direct Observation Therapy
  • Case management/tracking experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish), ability to interpret and translate health care information orally and in writing from English

into the specific foreign language (Spanish) and from the specific foreign language (Spanish) into English.
This office must receive a State Merit Application for Employment no later than the deadline. Highlight any experience related to the Preferred Qualifications. This position may require driving company vehicles (A valid driver's license is required) and working some evenings and weekends during special events such as health fairs and responding to disasters. Selected applicant must consent to a motor vehicle record assessment. Points should be less than 10 and/or not negatively impact insurance rates for the agency. Drug screening, criminal background checks, and immunization records may be required. Male applicants between 18 and 26 must present proof of Selective Service Registration if selected.
