SH-1007 Public Health Consultant I (WellnessS.P.A.2.0)
Position Overview:
This part-time position (approximately 10-15 hours/week; variable across program rounds with higher demand during launch and evaluation crunch windows) works under the general direction of the Program Administrator to coordinate the delivery and evaluation of Wellness S.P.A. 2.0, a workplace wellness initiative delivered in partnership with Wake County Public Health (WCPH). This program will offer a six-week wellness curriculum across three sequential rounds, with virtual and in-person tracks providing WCPH staff with accessible opportunities to reduce stress, strengthen engagement, and prevent burnout. The Public Health Consultant I is an integral member of the program team, combining operational and logistical support with basic data analysis to ensure a seamless, high-quality experience for all participants.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the lead facilitator (clinical SME) during in-person sessions (Wednesdays, 2:00 PM, up to 15 participants), including set up and breakdown of session space, management of materials, handouts, supplies, and refreshments.
  • Support participant check-in, attendance tracking, and session flow; serve as a point of contact for participants during sessions and handle logistical needs so the facilitator can focus on content delivery.
  • Sit in on virtual sessions periodically to maintain program continuity and familiarity with curriculum content across both delivery formats.
  • Assist with survey administration at key evaluation timepoints (baseline, mid-program, post-program, 30-day and 90-day follow-up).
  • Support participant tracking, follow-up outreach, and incentive documentation in alignment with program compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to basic data analysis tasks including data cleaning, coding of qualitative responses, and preparation of summary outputs under the direction of the Program Administrator.
  • Assist in compiling per-round evaluation reports and supporting documentation for the program's summative report.
  • Support scheduling, calendar management, and meeting coordination across internal and client-facing teams.
  • Prepare session materials, agendas, participant communications, and program deliverables as needed.
  • Maintain organized records across SharePoint, shared folders, and program tracking tools.
  • Provide surge capacity during high-demand windows including round launches and reporting deadlines.
  • Contribute to creating a psychologically safe and inclusive environment for all participants across both tracks.
  • Apply foundational knowledge of mental health and well-being principles to support program delivery with cultural sensitivity and participant-centeredness.
  • Flag any participant concerns or program delivery issues to the Program Administrator or clinical facilitator in a timely manner.
  • Support continuous quality improvement by documenting observations, session notes, and operational feedback across program rounds.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in public health, health education, psychology, social work, or a related field required (or equivalent experience).
  • Certifications: None required.
  • Experience: Experience supporting group-based health, wellness, or behavioral health programs preferred. Familiarity with program evaluation concepts (data collection, survey administration) preferred. Experience working within a public health or government-contracted program environment preferred.
  • Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Comfortable working with diverse populations in a professional wellness or health setting. Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, Forms, Outlook). Reliable, self-directed, and able to work with minimal supervision. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle participant concerns calmly and effectively.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds. Position requires standing less than 33% of time on duty, walking less than 33% of time on duty, and sitting between 33% and 66% of time on duty. Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel over 66% of time on duty. Reaching with hands or arms less than 33% of time. Full ability to talk and hear. Correctable vision required.
