Job description

Allies Way is a grassroots nonprofit organization advancing housing stability, food access, and wraparound support for families across Georgia and Florida. Our programs support families experiencing crisis, housing instability, food insecurity, and barriers to long-term stability.

We are currently recruiting mission-aligned leaders to serve on our Board of Directors for the 2027–2029 term.

This is a volunteer working-board role. We are seeking individuals who are willing to actively participate, provide strategic guidance, support fundraising, make meaningful community connections, and help strengthen the long-term sustainability of Allies Way.

Responsibilities

Board members are expected to:

  • Attend quarterly board meetings
  • Serve on at least one committee or focus area
  • Review board materials before meetings
  • Participate in discussions, votes, and planning conversations
  • Support fundraising, donor engagement, sponsorships, or community outreach
  • Help identify partnerships, resources, and visibility opportunities
  • Participate in at least one fundraising or development activity per quarter
  • Make or help raise a minimum annual give/get commitment of $500
  • Represent Allies Way positively in the community
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold fiduciary, ethical, and governance responsibilities
  • Attend program events, retreats, or special events when possible

Areas of Interest

We are especially interested in candidates with experience in:

  • Fundraising, sponsorships, donor relations, or grant strategy
  • Finance, accounting, budgeting, or nonprofit fiscal oversight
  • Legal, compliance, governance, or risk management
  • Human resources, organizational development, or leadership training
  • Housing, homelessness services, social services, or case management
  • Marketing, communications, public relations, or storytelling
  • Corporate partnerships, faith/community engagement, or advocacy
  • Program evaluation, data, operations, or strategic planning

Qualifications

Ideal candidates should be:

  • Mission-aligned and committed to serving families in crisis
  • Dependable, ethical, collaborative, and action-oriented
  • Comfortable serving on a working board
  • Willing to support fundraising and community engagement
  • Able to attend quarterly meetings and participate consistently
  • Open to learning, contributing, and helping a growing nonprofit scale responsibly

Prior nonprofit board experience is helpful but not required.

Term & Time Commitment

Board members serve a two-year term from 2027–2029. Estimated time commitment is approximately 4–6 hours per month, including meetings, committee work, fundraising support, and occasional events.
