Mechanical Design Engineer – Defense Hardware

Pay

$45.00–$52.00 per hour, with flexibility for highly qualified candidates

Location

Hudson, MA 01749 – Fully onsite

Job Summary

Revere Staffing is looking for a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer for an approximately 18-month contract supporting a Navy-related defense manufacturing project.

The first eight months will focus heavily on mechanical design, followed by ongoing engineering and manufacturing support. This opportunity may be extended or lead to permanent employment based on performance and business needs.

The ideal candidate can design mechanical hardware, create accurate production drawings and work directly with manufacturing to move designs from concept through fabrication, testing and production.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical hardware, equipment, components and assemblies
  • Create and revise 3D CAD models
  • Produce detailed part, assembly and manufacturing drawings
  • Develop and maintain bills of materials
  • Apply GD&T and design-for-manufacturing principles
  • Design machined parts, sheet-metal components, weldments, enclosures, fixtures or tooling
  • Review designs for performance and manufacturability
  • Support prototype builds, fabrication, testing and production
  • Troubleshoot design and manufacturing problems
  • Coordinate mechanical components with electrical or electromechanical systems
  • Work directly with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers and program management

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of mechanical design engineering experience
  • Strong SolidWorks, Creo, Pro/E, Inventor, NX or comparable 3D CAD experience
  • Mechanical hardware, machinery, equipment or assembly-design experience
  • Manufacturing drawing and BOM experience
  • Knowledge of GD&T and design for manufacturing
  • Understanding of machining, fabrication and manufacturing processes
  • Hands-on prototyping, assembly, testing or production-support experience
  • Ability to work independently across multiple areas of mechanical engineering
  • Must be available to work fully onsite in Hudson, MA
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to applicable defense-contract requirements

Preferred Experience

  • Defense or aerospace manufacturing
  • Navy, NAVSEA, maritime, marine, submarine or shipboard equipment
  • Ruggedized military hardware
  • Electromechanical systems
  • Sheet metal, weldments, machined components, enclosures, fixtures or tooling
  • Long-term engineering contract assignments
