A Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) is a mental health professional who provides low-intensity cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) interventions to individuals experiencing mild to moderate anxiety or depression. PWPs typically work within Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services in the UK, delivering guided self-help, psychoeducation, and support via telephone, online, or face-to-face sessions. Their role involves assessing patients, developing treatment plans, and helping individuals develop coping strategies to manage their mental health. PWPs work closely with other mental health professionals and may refer patients for higher-intensity treatments if needed.

What qualifications do you need to be a psychological wellbeing practitioner?

To become a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, candidates typically need a relevant undergraduate degree in psychology, mental health, or a related field, along with specific training in low-intensity psychological interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy.
