Purpose of the Job
Eligibility: This position is open EXCLUSIVELY to current PSNS / IMF and Bangor employees.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a mass transit vehicle along designated routes and adhere to established schedules.
  • Collect fare from passengers, sell passes, and ensure accurate transactions.
  • Provide information on routes and schedules for subscription services to prospective passengers.
  • Communicate transit policies and procedures to passengers.
  • Complete and submit required documentation, including trip reports, accident and incident reports, and equipment malfunctions, in a timely manner.
  • Prepare the bus for operation by checking brakes and other equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Monitor the two-way radio for communications, and report any unusual conditions such as accidents, passenger incidents, or traffic issues.
Additional Duties:
  • Refuel the bus as necessary.
  • Install and remove chains when required.

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge Skills and Other Characteristics
Qualifications:
  • Must hold a valid Class B Washington State commercial driver's license with a passenger endorsement and no air brake restrictions and maintain a clean driving record throughout employment.
  • Must secure a Puget Sound Naval Shipyard security clearance.
  • Must be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
  • Ability to interact with passengers courteously and independently.
  • Accurately handle cash transactions and maintain a cash fund.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a safe driving record and excellent attendance.
