Summary
You will serve as a PRODUCTION SUPERINTENDENT (TEMPORARY SERVICES) in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PSNS and IMF.

  • You will serve as the technical authority for the provision of temporary electrical, pipefitting, and sheet metal services to support complex shipbuilding, repair, conversion and overhaul of nuclear and non-nuclear ships and submarines.
  • You will coordinate through subordinate supervisors, and collaborates with other Production Superintendents, in order to sustain the operations of trades and crafts work necessary to support required repair and maintenance functions.
  • You will oversee a wide range of temporary services trade operations, and is accountable to superiors for the quality, quantity, effectiveness, and suitability of production processes.
  • You will coordinate employee assignments with other trades, engineers, military advisors, superintendents, and managers.
  • You will act as consultant and advisor to senior shipyard managers on matters such as feasibility of resource commitments, manpower availability, and qualifications and training of employees to support shipyard workload.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This position requires significant walking, stooping, bending, climbing of stairs and ladders.
  • This position requires lifting and carrying of light items.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing process oversight and coordination of diverse trade work of temporary services (e.g pipefitting, electrical, sheet metal) to support the repair, conversion and overhaul of ships and submarines.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
