Location: Gaithersburg, MD (On-Site)
Employment Type: Full-Time | Exempt
Salary Range: $93,000 - $118,000 per year

Overview

Harvey W. Hottel, Inc. is a well-established HVAC, Plumbing, and Mechanical contractor serving commercial, residential (custom homes), industrial, and government clients across the Maryland and DMV region.

We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our plumbing department. This leadership role is responsible for coordinating field teams, managing schedules and resources, ensuring project efficiency, and maintaining high-quality service standards.

This position plays a key role in supporting the Plumbing Department General Manager by ensuring operational excellence while the department continues to grow.

Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the plumbing department including scheduling service calls, projects, and field personnel
  • Ensure work is properly staffed and completed on time and within budget
  • Monitor workflow and field productivity to identify and resolve scheduling or manpower issues
  • Provide operational leadership to improve department performance and efficiency

Resource Coordination

  • Coordinate materials, tools, and equipment required for job sites
  • Work with purchasing teams, warehouse staff, and vendors to ensure material availability
  • Support job planning to minimize delays and maximize efficiency

Team Leadership

  • Coordinate with field plumbers, supervisors, and project staff
  • Assist with onboarding and training coordination for plumbing personnel
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and professional standards within the department

Customer Relations

  • Maintain strong relationships with clients through clear communication and scheduling coordination
  • Serve as a point of contact for operational updates and issue resolution
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and high-quality service delivery

Safety & Compliance

  • Partner with the Safety Director to maintain compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
  • Reinforce safe work practices and support safety training initiatives
  • Ensure plumbing work complies with codes, licensing, and regulatory requirements

Requirements

Must Have
  • 10+ years of commercial plumbing experience
  • Experience in leadership roles such as Field Supervisor, Project Manager, or Operations Lead
  • Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, codes, and regulations
  • Ability to coordinate schedules, manpower, and job resources in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Experience with job costing and estimating
  • Valid driver's license
Nice to Have
  • Journeyman or Master Plumber License
  • Supervisory or management experience within a plumbing department
  • Experience with dispatching, service management, or construction management software
