Prototype Press Operator
Location: Port Huron, MI
Schedule: Full-Time
Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Prototype Press Operator to support our growing manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting hydraulic and mechanical stamping presses while supporting prototype and low-volume production projects.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with stamping operations, prototype tooling, die setup, and process development. This position offers long-term stability and the opportunity to contribute to a company experiencing significant growth in the automotive and aerospace industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate hydraulic and mechanical stamping presses.
- Install, adjust, and troubleshoot prototype and production dies.
- Perform die changeovers and process adjustments.
- Develop and optimize stamping processes for prototype and production parts.
- Verify part quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Perform preventative maintenance and basic equipment troubleshooting.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating hydraulic and mechanical presses.
- Strong knowledge of stamping processes and die setup.
- Experience working with prototype and development tooling.
- Ability to read blueprints and work instructions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Experience
- Automotive, aerospace, or metal stamping experience.
- Prototype manufacturing environment experience.
- Progressive die and transfer die experience.
- 10+ years of press operation and setup experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
- Ability to work safely around moving equipment and machinery.
