Description:
You will be the Prototype Machinist / NC Programmer for the Engineering & Prototype Laboratory (EPL) team. Our team provides engineering and fabrication support for research‑and‑development initiatives within Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Prototype Machinist / NC Programmer you will be responsible for interpreting drawings and 3D models, developing fabrication processes, and generating NC code in a "Build to Print" environment.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Plan, tool, and set up multi‑axis mills, lathes, and mill‑turn machines (including 5‑axis contouring) for complex prototype hardware.

  • Create and verify NC programs using CAD/CAM software to meet exacting tolerances.

  • Fabricate fixtures, work‑holding solutions, and custom tooling to support unique part geometries.

  • Measure and inspect machined components, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications.

  • Prepare hardware for test or field deployment, exercising independent judgment on execution methods.

Basic Qualifications:
• Experience with CNC controls using EIA and Conversational
programming including Fanuc, Mazak and HAAS.
• Ability to write and edit G & M Code including MDI programming.
• Cutting Tool and Holder knowledge and selection
experience.
• Knowledge of Speed and Feeds for efficient machining performance of cutting tools in Aluminum and Stainless Steels.
• In-process inspection of work for quality assurance using and/or making gages required when needed.
• Due to facility requirements, all candidates must be U.S. Citizens
Desired Skills:
• Experience with Fixture Design and Fabrication. General Milling & Turning procedures.
• NC Programming or CAM Software experience (CATIA and/or ProE/CREO)
• Basic GD&T Experience
• 10 Yrs Experience in a Development & Prototype "Build to Print" Machining environment.
• Horizontal Boring Mill (G&L) - 5-Axis Full Contouring experience.
• Mazak Integrex Multi-Axis MillTurn - 5-Axis Full Contouring experience.
• Mazak VariAxis & Vortex Milling - 5-Axis Full Contouring experience.
• Mazak SmoothX, Matrix and 640M Control experience.
• HAAS 3 to 5 Axis Control experience.
• Thorough knowledge of Speed and Feeds for efficient machining performance of cutting tools in Exotic and Heat Treated materials.
• Extensive GD&T Experience
• Tool Grinding experience a plus.
• Wire or Sinker EDM experience a plus.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
