Position SummaryThis role is to advance customer service in the preparation and construction of work orders to build a smarter energy future for new Residential and mixed-use developments.The successful candidate has the desire, skills, and abilities to make a difference in the growth and improvement of the electrical distribution system to energize the communities we serve.The Engineering Technologist III position is the third level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification. Engineering Technologist III provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems and leadership skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with limited supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with a high degree of independence.
Responsibilities
Work within a team environment and collaborates across multiple work groups to accomplish common goals
Applies deep technical expertise in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise including but not limited to electrical distribution and other utility systems
Independently prepares thorough and accurate work orders, technical reports, correspondence, documentation, electrical and mechanical calculations and sketches
Communicates frequently and consistently with customers both internal and external to ensure satisfaction
Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives that follow established processes through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities
Applies advancing level knowledge in preparing thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches
Conducts engineering and related studies and performs field design work to prepare work orders for construction of the distribution system
Interprets conceptual plans to prepare work orders, provide guidance on roadway permitting and easements, and apply CIAC billing
Strives to continually develop, transform and improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance
Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills
Maintains accurate records and files
Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally

Associates degree in Engineering Technology
4 years related work experience
In lieu of Associates degree(s) AND 4 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 6 year(s) related work experience

Working Conditions
- Hybrid Mobility Classification- Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to their designated Duke Energy facility.
