Our Exploration division is growing, and we are seeking a North America Exploration Drill Services Manager to provide leadership, technical authority, and strategic direction for drilling services across the region, with a focus on improving productivity and reducing costs. This role acts as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, driving the consistent application of standards, proactive risk management, and continuous improvement, while identifying and recommending technical solutions for drilling programs. The Manager will also oversee regional priorities and lead the evaluation and implementation of new technologies, ensuring alignment with corporate frameworks and regulatory requirements to support and protect the Company's license to operate across North America.

Responsibilities:

Contractor Safety:

  • Assist Project Managers and Contract administrators with Contractor pre-qualification and certification processes.

  • Strong communication with Health and Safety Managers.

  • Run pre-start up safety inspections of drilling and support equipment.

  • Training sessions 

Drill Program Tendering and Service Contract Process:

  • Proposing new exploration programs to the Explorations Managers, based on the construction of robust exploration models. 

Drill Program Logistics Support:

  • Executing and overseeing in the field the development of exploration programs, ensuring and requiring the application of good practices in the capturing and management of geological data; 

  • Overseeing with a strong technical focus the implementation of works and programs in compliance with the budget approved.

  • Contributing and collaborating with the development of exploration models and geological criteria to generate exploration targets at local, district and regional scale by the application of innovative concepts and other cutting-edge exploration tools.   

  • Regularly reviewing the technical progress of exploration projects, collaborating with the Explorations Managers in the preparation and critical review of work programs presented by senior and project geologists.   
  • Preparing high quality technical written reports on exploration progress. 
  • Participating in the annual explorations budget preparation process being responsible for compliance thereof and for the financial management of the projects overseen by him in order to execute them in the Budget.
  • Promote a strong culture of responsible exploration, ethical conduct, and sustainability leadership.
  • Ensure alignment with Barrick's social performance standards, human rights commitments, and responsible mining principles.
  • Strengthen and protect Barrick's social license to operate across all exploration jurisdictions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing across the Exploration organization.
  • Geologist/ Geologist-Engineer degree, required. 
  • Post graduate degree, desirable.
  • At least 10 years of experience in exploration, required
  • At least 3 years of experience in people's leadership roles, required.
  • Experience in Gold and Copper exploration, required.
  • International experience, preferred.
  • Updated technical knowledge about geophysics, geochemistry, among others exploration tools, required.
  • Knowledge about the types of hydrothermal alteration and distribution/zoning in gold-silver epithermal deposits, copper-gold and copper-molybdenum porphyries, required.
  • Deep knowledge about conceptual geological models of gold-silver and copper-gold, copper-molybdenum porphyry-epithermal mineral deposits, required. 
  • Knowledge about Leapfrog, ArcGisPro, IoGas.- Knowledge about safety, health, environmental standards and communities, required.
  • Languages 
    • Fluent in spoken and written English. 
  • Driver's License, required
  • Available for frequent field work (at least 50% of the time)
  • Skills:
    • Alignment with Barrick's DNA 
    • Effective communication and capacity to disseminate knowledge. 
    • Planning/organizing skills
    • Capacity to analyze diverse geological information.

Qualifications:

Environmental Requirements/ Considerations:

  • Propose and update the documents related to the SGA related to the areas of its competence.

  • Participate in the identification or update of environmental aspects and impacts, as well as comply with the monitoring of environmental controls, measurement and verification mechanisms associated with environmental management that correspond to them.

  • Participate in the identification of opportunities for improvement in activities related to the SGA.

  • Ensure that the operational procedures in their charge are correctly applied.

  • Provide information derived from the environmental management that falls on the position.

  • Participate in environmental training activities when required, in coordination with their hierarchical supervisors.

  • Communicate to the environmental area those events that constitute environmental incidents according to the current procedures, as well as participate in the investigation of them, contributing to the formulation of action plans.

  • Carry out the tasks and works in accordance with the Environmental Policy and the guidelines of the Environmental Management System.

  • Report environmental incidents and formulate corrective, preventive or mitigating measures, as appropriate.

  • Participate in the corresponding environmental training activities.

  • Cooperate and contribute to the overall success of the Environmental Management System by actively participating in its activities.
