Hastings Insurance is seeking an Associate Business Intelligence Analyst to join our growing Business Intelligence (BI) team. This role is ideal for an early-career analytics professional who enjoys working with data, solving problems, and learning new technologies.

Working closely with BI Analysts, Data Scientists, Actuaries, and Data Engineers, you'll help develop reporting and visualization solutions that provide visibility into operational and financial performance across the organization. You'll gain hands-on experience with analytics tools, data governance practices, dashboard development, and enterprise reporting while building a strong foundation in business intelligence and insurance analytics.

Whether your experience comes from internships, academic projects, or early professional work, this role offers an opportunity to grow your technical skills while contributing to meaningful business outcomes.

Schedule & Location:

This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We strongly prefer candidates who can work a hybrid schedule from our Hastings, Michigan headquarters. Consideration may be given to a fully remote work arrangement for highly qualified candidates, however candidates must reside in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, or Wisconsin.

What You'll Do:
  • Support the development and maintenance of reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using certified enterprise datasets.
  • Use SQL and BI tools to extract, analyze, and present data that supports business decision-making.
  • Partner with BI Analysts, Data Scientists, Actuaries, and Data Engineers to understand business requirements and reporting needs.
  • Assist with testing and validation activities to ensure reporting accuracy and consistency.
  • Apply established data governance standards, business definitions, and enterprise metrics.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve reporting processes and data accessibility.
  • Develop an understanding of insurance operations, business processes, and analytical best practices.
  • Support ongoing enhancements to dashboards, reports, and visualization solutions.
  • Participate in continuous learning and professional development activities.
What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Statistics, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Coursework, training, or practical experience involving databases, analytics, reporting, or data visualization.
  • Zero to two years of professional experience in analytics, reporting, business intelligence, or a related field.
  • Experience with SQL through coursework, internships, academic projects, or professional experience.
  • Exposure to BI and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a willingness to learn in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
