Job Overview


We are seeking a Physician Assistant to provide office-based care and see patients independently alongside collaborating physicians and APPs in our Cancer Center. Our Physician Assistants manage all aspects of urologic oncology including prostate cancer, bladder cancer, renal cancer, etc. Physician Assistants will manage cancer patients, with physician support, through diagnosis and discussion of treatment options, interpretation of ongoing labs and imaging, and management of cancer medications and related adverse events. We have a strong research program with 20+ clinical trials with Physicians Assistants actively enrolling and monitoring patients.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a high degree of general medical and urological cancer knowledge and exercise independent judgment as appropriate
  • Assess the patient's medical condition (prostate cancer, bladder cancer, renal cancer, etc.) by completion of a urological examination
  • Document appropriately and communicate with the appropriate physician in a timely manner as required, including, but not limited to: evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, treatment notes, and other reports as requested
  • Order and evaluate laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications and devices based on the patient's medical condition
  • Develop and perform treatment plans in accordance with established protocols
  • Order physical therapy, occupational therapy and/or home health care as appropriate
  • Perform cancer procedures in office setting (cystoscopy, prostate biopsy, etc.) as trained

Requirements

Required License/Experience/Skills

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Licensure in the state of Virginia
