Director, Benioff Initiative in Prostate Cancer Research
The Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (HDFCCC) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), one of the nation's leading NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers, seeks a recognized leader in the field of prostate cancer research to serve as the next Director of the Benioff Initiative for Prostate Cancer Research (BIPCR). This is a unique opportunity to lead a cross-institutional research program, founded by the late Felix Feng, MD, dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying aggressive prostate cancer and developing strategies to cure metastatic disease.
The ideal candidate will be an internationally recognized physician-scientist with an outstanding track record in basic and translational cancer research. As a requirement the candidate must possesses an MD, MD-PhD or equivalent. Their research should be largely laboratory and translational in nature, with their research portfolio and funding focused on prostate cancer. They will demonstrate a strong history of peer-reviewed research funding and publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and in addition a track record in leading and managing large research projects/collaborations beyond their own laboratory. A demonstrated track record in and commitment to mentoring early-career scientists, and the ability to communicate effectively with external stakeholders are also prerequisites.
UCSF offers a highly competitive startup package. As Director of the BIPCR, the selected candidate will be appointed as the George and Judy Marcus Distinguished Professor. Candidates with the appropriate qualifications may also be considered for leadership roles in the UCSF Prostate Cancer SPORE (NCI P50 Grant) and/or the HDFCCC Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG, NCI P30 Grant)-funded Prostate Cancer Program.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5 . The minimum base salary range for this position is $150,200 - $319,800. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
