Maritime Operations within Mission Technologies - Nuclear & Environmental Services, is looking for an Engineering Technicians to join the team in Newport News, VA. 
Engineering Technicians in the Maritime Operations group support a wide variety of different functional areas at Newport News Shipyard. This requisition is specifically seeking candidates to support Newport News Shipbuilding in the Nuclear Propulsion Division in key roles in Nuclear Test Engineering.

                                                                              Engineering Technician 3  - Salary $66,955.2 with a $5,000 sign on bonus

                                                                              Engineering Technician 4 - Salary $82,963.4 with a $8,000 sign on bonus

What You Will Do
  • Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.
  • Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
  • Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
  • Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data.
  • Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
  • May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
What You Must Have

Education/Experience:

Engineering Technician 3 - Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years related (DoD/USN) experience. 

Engineering Technician 4 - Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years related experience or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years related experience. 

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate

Security Compliance Knowledge & Operational Skills:

  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Candidate must have prior Navy nuclear propulsion experience, Department of Energy or commercial nuclear power experience.
Bonus Points For Having!
  • Four (4) years of related manufacturing, shipbuilding, or trades experience. 
Physical Requirements
Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the job. A waterfront office work environment is normally encountered.
