Job description

Auxiliary Services is seeking an engaged sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student to support marketing and communication to students and families. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, collaborative spirit, creativity and ability to think outside the box.

Material 1: Portfolio/Examples

Applicants are required to submit a portfolio showcasing their previous work in photography, social media videos and pages they have managed before. The portfolio should demonstrate the applicant's skills, creativity, and ability to capture compelling visuals. Please include a selection of your best photographs and videos that highlight various styles, techniques, and subject matter. These can be social media posts.

Material 2: Resume

*Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in an interview process. Applicants are strongly encouraged to review the résumé writing guide and visit the Compass Resource Center for further assistance with their application materials.

Compensation:

Pay: $16.00/hour

Meal Plan: For students without a meal plan, a Block 50 meal plan is provided. These are meant to be used to create videos and photos in case props are needed. If one is on a meal plan, adjustments may be made to accommodate needs.

Position Overview: We are looking for dynamic, creative, and motivated Social Media Interns to join our Campus Auxiliary Services team! As a Social Media Intern, you will play a key role in capturing the dining experience across our campus dining halls, catering services, retail dining locations, and help promote the merch in our college stores. You will work closely with your supervisors to develop engaging and informative content that highlights student experiences, nutrition, food offerings, clothes, etc. This is a fantastic opportunity for students interested in social media marketing and content creation.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post 4 reels and 2 photo posts per week.
  • Dedicate 2-3 hours weekly to capturing photos and videos. Content should include a mix of both vertical and horizontal formats, focusing on different themes each week (e.g., food highlights, nutrition, student engagement).
  • Build and maintain a network of students who are interested in being featured in social media content. Actively engage with your peers to grow this list through outreach and networking.
  • Develop and execute innovative promotional campaigns aimed at increasing the Instagram visibility and enhancing student engagement on social media platforms as well as other promotional materials related to Auxiliary Services.
  • Use Notion to manage a social media calendar, scheduling posts and ensuring timely delivery of promotional materials and event updates.
  • Have one 30-minute meeting every week with the Marketing and Web Coordinator (supervisor) to track progress, align on content strategies, and ensure consistency across platforms.
  • Attend a one 1-hour staff meeting every week.
  • Attend 2 hours work session every week.
  • Stay current with trends on Instagram and TikTok to generate trending ideas and incorporate popular sounds and formats into social media content.
  • Be prepared to take on other responsibilities as they arise. Flexibility is key as the internship evolves and new tasks or projects may emerge.

Requirements:

  • Strong work ethic, collaborative spirit, creativity and ability to think outside the box.
  • Minimum 2.8 GPA.
  • Relevant major OR career interest.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, content creation, CapCut, Notion, industry trends.
  • Have their own computer and phone to use during the duration of internship.
  • Professional awareness.
