What Will You Be Doing?

The Tax Intern will assist Frontier’s Tax team with indirect and direct tax compliance obligations. The Intern will also assist with tax research and with monthly-end, quarter-end and year-end closings. The intern will gain experience throughout the Tax team through assigned project work and on the job training. This internship is for Fall 2026 -9/9/2026 - 12/11/2026 based in Denver, CO.

Essential Functions

  • Compilation of information and data for various tax returns, including income, property, excise, fuel and sales/use taxes.
  • Compilation of information for the financial statement requirements of the tax department
  • Maintain the tax department’s calendar
  • Assist with federal and state audit information requests
  • Assist with monthly journal entry and tax account reconciliation processes
  • Preparation of sales and use tax, excise tax and fuel tax return workpapers
  • Processing of tax returns and tax payments
  • Reconciliation of tax notices with existing records
  • Tax research projects as required
  • Perform other tax compliance and administrative duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate sophomore-level students or above working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (concentration in Tax a plus) OR
  • Graduate students working towards a Master’s Degree in Taxation or Business Administration (concentration in Accounting of Finance)
  • Prior work experience, including a prior co-op internship in accounting or tax is preferred, but not mandatory
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and Word
