This position requires strong leadership, organization, and communication skills with both members and staff. They will work collaboratively with club staff to manage all golf activities at Interlachen.

About Interlachen:

We are excited to continue our robust and engaging internship program at Interlachen Country Club for the 2027 season! Located in Edina, Minnesota and just a few miles West of Minneapolis, Interlachen is defined by a renowned Donald Ross golf course, considered to be one of his finest. Recently renovated in the summer of 2023 by architect Andrew Green, the course now showcases features of the original blueprints as well as unique features created to both challenge and excite all types of players.


The goal of our internship program is to challenge each intern to grow both as a person and as a professional. Upon completing the internship program, interns will be prepared and empowered to advance to the next step in their careers. Students who have previously completed the internship program have gone on to hold top-tier positions throughout the country, as well as management positions within our own team. The most successful candidates will be motivated, curious self-starters looking to grow in the golf course and grounds industry.


Principle Details 

Leadership Rank: Seasonal, Golf Team 

Reporting to: Senior Assistant, Jack O’Brien 

Area of Ownership: Golf Department


General Responsibilities:

  • Spread hospitality and goodwill among all members, guests and fellow staff. 
  • Welcome all members and guests in the shop and around the club; anticipate and assist in their daily needs. Always remember that members are our reason for being here. 
  • Understand the entire operation thoroughly: 

             o Interlachen Country Club rules and regulations. 

             o Golf Operations’ policies and procedures. 

  • Enforce club policies in a polite manner as needed. 
  • Assist in training all staff members. 
  • Organize and conduct tournaments for men and women. 
  • Assist with all roles of the golf department as needed (starter, ranger, outside ops). 
  • Observe and assist the caddie program as needed. 
  • Assist with placing special orders and receiving merchandise. 
  • Maintain ICC Shop Standards. 
  • Familiarize yourself with all products in the shop. Clubs, balls, shoes, & apparel. 
  • Complete vendor education programs for each line in the pro shop. (Callaway, Ping, Mizuno, Taylor Made, Titleist, Scotty Cameron, Ecco, Foot Joy).
  • Keep shop, golf offices, bag room and golf performance center neat and clean at all times. 
  • Reconcile daily Jonas transactions with tee sheets. 
  • Manage club repair through Tom Rustad. 
  • Monitor and update ForeTees. 
  • Participate in Staff Education Program. 
  • Staff is encouraged to practice and play. Goal is to play with 30 members each season. 
  • Walk the range on a regular basis to interact and assist members. 
  • Wear staff uniform and name tag. Your appearance reflects our team and the club. 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and lead assigned golf events. 
  • Receive a minimum of 1 invoice each day. 
  • Weekly Journal to Nathan to be submitted via email. 
  • Role model for staff. 

Leadership and Teamwork 

  • Serve as a role model to demonstrate HEART (Honesty, Enthusiasm, Anticipation, Respect and Teamwork). 
  • Project a positive and motivating attitude amongst all team members and leaders. 
  • Be punctual and timely on a daily basis. 
  • Take a hands-on approach to all operational aspects. 
  • Maintain good knowledge of golf programs. 
  • Able to work flexible hours and days (e.g., evenings, weekends and holidays) 

Other Details/Scheduling: 

  • Handle and move bags and supplies efficiently and safely, including frequent lifting or moving up to 40 pounds. 
  • Willingness to work long hours (e,g., evenings, weekends and holidays). 

Salary, Benefits, and Perks:

  • $15/hr (40 hours per week) 
  • $20/hr for junior golf instruction
