Laurel, New Jersey or Bedford, New Hampshire.
The Property Claim Adjuster will become part of a dedicated claims team focusing on Commercial Property claims. This position interacts extensively with home office technical managers, internal colleagues as well as policyholders, agents, attorneys, appraisers, and a multitude of claim-related service providers.

We offer a hybrid work schedule, requiring two full days per week in the office, with flexibility to work remotely or onsite the remaining days. This model supports collaboration while providing flexibility and work-life balance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Cultivating relationships with claims and other internal staff, policyholders, attorneys, agents and a variety of service providers and experts all while working towards achieving the most optimal outcomes for Merchants and our policyholders.
  • The Property Claim Adjuster will be responsible for investigating coverage and liability damages.
  • Provides a high level of customer service.
  • Conducting and directing timely and quality claim investigations, evaluations and equitable settlements of all assigned claims.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate reserves consistent with established reserving philosophy and practices.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • A minimum of 2 years' claims experience handling first party Property claims (Commercial claim handling experience is preferred).
  • Skilled negotiator, capable of formulating strategy and action plans for files.
  • State adjusters license (or ability to obtain).
  • Professional designations or working towards industry specific designations are a plus.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, desk management, communication and negotiation skills are required.

Merchants Insurance Group offers a competitive pay scale. The estimated salary for this role ranges from $30.00 - $35.00 hourly based on leveling and geography, along with an equity component and a comprehensive benefits package. This range is merely an estimate; actual compensation may deviate from this range based on skills, experience and qualifications.
