Job description

Civil Construction Superintendent

Northern Clearing Inc. is currently seeking a Civil Construction Superintendent to join our team.

The Civil Construction Superintendent will be responsible for duties including on-site leadership, managing earthwork, utilities, storm drainage to include environmental controls and grading for solar, BESS and substation civil projects. The right candidate will have the knowledge and ability to ensure OSHA and company safety compliance, manage subcontractors, and direct field operations with 15+ years of experience in performing this position.

This position will require travel across the U.S.

Primary Focus:

  • Experience and proficiency in Project setup, office, yard, equipment, personnel (union) at project location
  • Operations plan and scheduling for project
  • Experience and proficiency in reading and understanding all environmental permits and drawings
  • Experience and proficiency in reading blueprints and CAD drawings
  • Ability to use Trimble Business Center and Propeller Aero for modeling, cut/fill calcs and drone flight data upload and processing
  • Experience and proficiency in using Trimble GPS data collector for field data collection and calibration of site to include base station setup, use of repeaters and uploading of GPS machine control data files
  • Experience and proficiency in material submittals
  • Experience and proficiency in mass excavation cut/fill operations and equipment management for high production projects to include topsoil stripping, stockpiling, reinstatement, rock excavation, classified and unclassified over excavation and backfill
  • Knowledge and experience for installation of all types of ponds, basins, storm drainage pipe, outfall structures, trash racks, cut off trenches, anti-seep collars, skimmers, baffles and end treatments for piping to include spillway construction.
  • Installation of roadway culvert crossings
  • Knowledge of geotextile fabrics, geogrids and Geoweb for underlayment
  • Access road subgrade preparation (lime, cement stabilization and moisture conditioning)
  • Understanding and knowledge of all environmental controls, installation and maintenance to include permanent and temporary stabilization
  • Understanding and knowledge of compaction testing, sieve analysis reports and geotechnical reports
  • Tracking and monitoring production in real time in coordination with project management to include project budget
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate well via email and multiple types of correspondence.
  • Knowledge of Xcel and Microsoft Software programs.
