Job description

Role Overview: The Material Handler is responsible for stocking and delivering parts to production areas based on the schedule. This role requires operating equipment safely, maintaining organized stock, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the production process.
Key Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Drive and operate a forklift safely.
• Stock and organize sheet metal parts, copper, and wire spools.
• Empty scrap buckets and manage scrap material, including loading and unloading trucks.
• Deliver materials such as copper, steel, sheet metal, and pipe to other departments as needed.
• Use the sheet metal book to locate stock parts.
• Return pallets to vendors and ensure brakes and shears are stocked with empty pallets.
• Complete tasks as assigned by the supervisor, including overtime when necessary.
• Accurately log time in the attendance system to ensure proper labor distribution and payroll.
• Maintain and report the condition of tools and equipment.
• Clean the work area as required and contribute to team efforts by collaborating with colleagues.
Desired Qualifications:
• Education & Experience: A high school education is preferred. Must understand directions and perform tasks accurately.
• Skills:
o Effective communication and listening skills.
o Ability to read and interpret drawings, written instructions, and measurements to 1/16 of an inch.
o Proficiency in operating equipment and monitoring performance for corrective actions.
o Strong interpersonal skills for teamwork and collaboration.
Certificates, Licenses, or Training: Forklift and propane licenses preferred; on-site training provided.
Interaction with Others: Reports to the Plant Manager. The role requires effective communication, cooperation, and teamwork with all employees within the organization. Must display a positive attitude and be willing to ask and answer questions to ensure a smooth workflow.
Working Environment: The Material Handler works in an industrial production area exposed to moving machinery, vehicles, and varying noise levels. The environment includes exposure to extreme temperatures in summer and winter. Seasonal production demands may affect working hours.

• Personal Protective Equipment (e.g., gloves, safety glasses, earplugs)

Other Physical Requirements: Sustained use of eyesight for functions such as visual inspection, reading, measuring and operating hand tools, along with the ability to see objects and detect motion at wide angles (peripheral vision) in order to maintain employee safety, ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection)
