Job description

Gas Piping Technician
The Gas Piping Technician is responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of natural gas and propane piping systems in residential, commercial, and/or industrial environments. This role requires strict adherence to safety protocols, gas codes, and quality standards due to the hazardous nature of gas systems.
Responsibilities:
  • Install, modify, and repair gas piping systems (natural gas and propane)
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and gas piping diagrams
  • Perform gas pressure testing and leak detection in accordance with code requirements
  • Install piping materials such as black iron, CSST, and other approved materials
  • Size gas piping systems based on load requirements and code standards
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot gas flow, pressure, and appliance performance issues
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes (e.g., NFPA 54 / National Fuel Gas Code)
  • Document pressure tests, inspections, and service reports accurately
  • Coordinate with other trades (plumbing, HVAC, electrical) to avoid conflicts
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in safe and clean condition
  • Follow all OSHA safety regulations and company safety procedures
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in gas piping, plumbing, or mechanical installation (preferred)
