What is a prop firm?

Prop firms, short for proprietary trading firms, are companies that use their own capital to trade financial instruments like stocks, currencies, or futures. Rather than managing client funds, they hire or fund traders to execute trades on behalf of the firm. Profits are shared between the trader and the firm, often based on performance. Many prop firms offer training, mentorship, and access to advanced trading platforms. They provide an opportunity for skilled traders to trade larger amounts of capital than they might personally have available.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a proprietary trader at a prop firm?

To thrive as a Proprietary Trader at a prop firm, you need strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of financial markets, and often a degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Proficiency with trading platforms, charting software, and risk management systems is typically required, along with relevant certifications like FINRA Series 7 in some jurisdictions. Outstanding decision-making, discipline, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are crucial soft skills for success in this role. These capabilities are vital as they enable traders to manage risk, capitalize on market opportunities, and maintain consistent profitability in a highly competitive environment.

What are some common challenges traders face when working at a proprietary trading firm?

Traders at prop firms often encounter challenges such as maintaining consistent profitability under pressure, adapting to rapidly changing market conditions, and managing risk within the firm's parameters. Collaboration with other traders and risk managers is key, as sharing strategies and market insights can improve performance, but competition among peers may also be intense. Additionally, traders must continually learn and adapt to new trading tools and technologies to stay competitive within the firm.

How to get hired by a prop firm?

To get hired by a prop firm, candidates typically need to demonstrate strong trading skills, risk management, and a proven track record through trading simulations or assessments. Many firms require passing a trading evaluation or challenge before offering a trading position, and relevant knowledge of trading platforms and strategies is beneficial.

Job description

Own the Story Behind the Product.

MyFundedFutures isn't just another prop firm. We're building the trading platforms and funding programs that traders rely on every day, and someone needs to make sure the market actually understands what we've built and why it matters. We move fast, we ship bold, and we don't do boring. If you're someone who can take a complex product and turn it into a launch that traders actually care about, we want to talk to you.

Our product ecosystem spans trading platforms and prop firm evaluation and funding programs, each with its own mechanics, its own audience, and its own reason to exist. This role sits at the center of it: translating what Product and Engineering ship into positioning, messaging, and launches that make sense to traders and move the business forward.

What You'll Do
  • Own product marketing strategy and execution across our full ecosystem: trading platforms and prop firm programs
  • Partner directly with Product leadership to understand the roadmap early enough to build real launch plans, not last-minute announcements
  • Translate technical product decisions (platform integrations, payout structures, drawdown rules, account tiers) into messaging traders actually understand and care about
  • Own go-to-market for new features and product lines: positioning, messaging, launch timing, and cross-functional coordination with Marketing, Content, and Sales/BD
  • Build the narrative around what makes our platform different, from execution and payouts to platform integrations
  • Develop sales and partnership enablement materials so BD and account teams can speak fluently about the product
  • Track and report on launch performance and adoption, and use it to sharpen the next one
  • Stay closely tuned to competitor positioning and product marketing across the prop trading space
What You Bring
  • A track record of product marketing in fintech, trading, or a similarly technical/regulated space
  • Strong ability to translate complex, technical product mechanics into clear, compelling messaging
  • Comfort partnering closely with Product and Engineering, not just Marketing
  • Genuine interest in trading, markets, or prop firm culture. You don't need to be a trader, but you should get why this space is exciting
  • Sharp instincts for what makes a launch land versus fall flat
  • Comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities across a small, fast-scaling company
  • A thrive-in-chaos mindset: you're energized by a small, fast-paced team where the best idea wins, not the loudest title
Bonus Points
  • Experience marketing a trading platform or prop firm product specifically
  • Familiarity with futures trading platform integrations
  • Experience building sales/BD enablement materials, not just customer-facing content
  • A track record of launches that measurably moved adoption or revenue
Why Us
  • Ground-floor opportunity to own product marketing across our platform ecosystem at one of the fastest-growing names in funded futures trading
  • A team that moves with startup speed and cares about doing things right
  • Real ownership: your positioning and launches will directly shape how traders understand and adopt the product
  • Competitive compensation and benefits
