Job Description

Duration: 6+ months

Description: 


Selects, develops, writes and edits material for various organization publications. 

Ensures that all materials meet established standards as to appearance and content. 

Obtains cost estimates and collaborates in the selection of illustrator(s) and printer(s) and approves their work. 


The primary responsibility of the Content Specialist (S) in the GI (gastrointestinal) Department to ensure the quality and accuracy of highly detailed communication materials created either by the department or externally (advertising agencies). 


These materials cover an exceptionally wide range of communication objectives, including: 

Prescribing Information (PI) documents created by the FDA for specific medications 

Educational materials about specific diseases and other medical conditions 

Educational materials about specific medications created to treat these conditions 

Promotional materials about branded medications and disease-support programs 

Internal communications about strategic initiatives and tactical plans 

Various other communications and promotional materials 


These materials are targeted to a wide range of audiences, including: 

Patients 

Physicians 

Pharmacists 

Employees 

Hospitals and other healthcare institutions 


These materials are created for a wide range of communication formats, including: 

Print materials 

Websites presented via: 

o Computer desktop 

o iPad 

o iPod 

Email blasts 

Virtual sales (i.e. telecommunications) 


The ideal CS candidate must possess outstanding proofreading/copy editing skills, preferably supported by 5+ years of experience; healthcare background a major plus 

Must have proofing facility with print, online, iPad, iPod, pdf and various other communication formats 

Must be able to work on a laptop computer 

Must be able to handle large volumes of work in a deadline-driven environment, as well as attend team meetings to discuss/revise/approve materials before publication
