What does a promotional video editor do?

A Promotional Video Editor is responsible for assembling and editing video footage to create compelling promotional content for brands, products, events, or services. They work closely with marketing teams and creative directors to ensure the final video aligns with the desired message and branding. Their tasks include cutting raw footage, adding effects, sound, and graphics, and ensuring the video engages the target audience. Strong technical skills in video editing software and a good sense of storytelling are essential for this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a promotional video editor?

To thrive as a Promotional Video Editor, you need strong video editing skills, a solid understanding of storytelling, and experience with post-production workflows, typically supported by a background in film, media, or communications. Effective communication and flexibility are key, as editors may need to balance creative ideas with practical timelines and client expectations. This collaborative environment fosters creativity and allows editors to contribute their expertise while also learning from other professionals in the field.

Would you thrive as part of a team that is collaborative, passionate, and flexible in its dynamic marketing of resources that enhance congregational life in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and beyond?

  • Experience with editing, excerpting, and uploading video to YouTube and Vimeo
  • Familiarity with The Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) is a plus; enthusiasm for using it is even better
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines
  • Experience with CRM systems (HubSpot), project management tools (Teamwork), and Microsoft 365, or demonstrated ability to learn new systems and software quickly
