Role Overview
Supports creative communications strategies for the selection, implementation, management, and maintenance of WCPS' brand content on all websites, social media, and other communications platforms in an accurate, accessible, and timely manner. Creates and produces photo and video content system-wide. Assists with the coordination and implementation of the school system's public relations, media relations, communications, and community engagement efforts.
Minimum Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in video production, film, photography, communications, broadcasting, organizational development, public relations, education, or other related field.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in video production, film, photography, public relations, communications, print or broadcast media, education, or other related field.
  • Excellent design, written, and verbal communication skills, as well as editing expertise.
  • Skills to solve problems creatively and to perform independent, thoughtful analysis, and effectively organize and prioritize work.
  • Capability to build trust and relationships with and among all stakeholders, in particular dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with business software and computer applications including website and social media platforms.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute special events for system-wide recognitions.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work proactively and independently, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete specific project activities on time and work on a number of projects simultaneously to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to be available beyond the business day for special events or presentations, and to update and monitor district websites during emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in video production, film, photography, communications, broadcasting, organizational development, public relations, education, or other related field
  • Highly proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Suite video and photo editing software.
  • Working knowledge of web design and/or website content management systems.
  • Preferable knowledge of and demonstrated experience in online video streaming and cable broadcast systems.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the organizational philosophy, goals, policies, and departments of WCPS.

Role Responsibilities
  • Supports visual communications and information campaigns across the system with the goal of making content more understandable and engaging by utilizing graphic design, photography, video, and other creative communications strategies.
  • Increase the impact and visibility of WCPS, building the organization's brand and increasing stakeholder engagement.
  • Leads video production and digital media initiatives while ensuring brand consistency and accuracy in all publications, marketing materials, and digital content.
  • Maintains an organized digital asset management system for district photography and video, ensuring timely editing, archiving, and retrieval of multimedia assets.
  • Coordinates and operates live streaming, recording, and multimedia production for Board of Education meetings and other district events.
  • Work collaboratively with graphic design producers to ensure the development of digital content via all digital distribution platforms so as to achieve the highest level of impact and return.
  • Manage administrative aspects of communications activities including budget(s), contracts, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Responsible for supporting the Communications Officer in creating and managing communications related to initiatives of WCPS, as well as materials related to supporting senior leadership.
  • Monitors district and campus website content to ensure ADA compliance and address accessibility errors.
  • Maintains, converts, and optimizes published documents for online use.
  • Reviews metrics to monitor and analyze website traffic, social media engagement, general communications analytics, and other statistics for periodic reporting and review of content effectiveness.
  • Optimizes web architecture for navigability (browser and mobile platforms).
  • Responds to public inquiries pertaining to district and campus websites and directs them to the appropriate information on the website and routes incoming calls and email to the appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Provides training and support to central office and campus staff for the operation of the mass notification system.
  • Posts news, announcements, and emergency notifications.
  • Manages content and supports the functionality of WCPS' mobile communication app.
  • Maintains knowledge of the latest industry trends and developments and seeks additional training when possible.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
