Overview

The Senior Director, Strategic Pricing, provides leadership, strategic direction, and structure to the Strategic Pricing teams. This role is critical in driving improved sales and profitability by optimizing pricing across all merchandising departments, geographies, and channels. The Senior Director oversees the implementation of capabilities-including processes, systems, and analytics-to empower Merchandising teams with incremental opportunities to drive sales and margin, aligning with the company's vision and priorities. This role is responsible for building strong Pricing Centers of Excellence, equipping Merchandising teams with tools and structure needed to optimize the business, and providing actionable insights based on credible business intelligence. The Senior Director is a thought partner to merchandising and cross-functional team leaders, fostering meaningful and lasting change across the organization.

Essential Functions

Leadership, Collaboration, & Strategy Development:

  • Provide leadership and structure in developing consumer-focused solutions that advance pricing strategy, promotions, and associated processes.
  • Provide the strategic direction for Sprouts' pricing strategy to drive price perception and value.
  • Partner with MP&A and Merch Data teams to develop a Power BI-based suite of tools that bring analysis and insights to the Merchandising team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team leaders to optimize each team's impact on the business, identify capability gaps, and drive analytical and strategic support for efficient and effective teams.
  • Develop and lead the Strategic Pricing team, establishing them as centers of excellence.

Promoting a Culture of Innovation, Adaptability, and Advocacy:

  • Champion the organization and advocate for solutions in the company's best interest.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that enables employees to perform at their highest potential.

Driving Results via Strategic Initiatives & Process Improvement:

  • Provide recommendations, improve, and maintain clearly defined processes and procedures for positive results, identifying incremental opportunities to drive the business.
  • Champion and measure/report on new merchandising tests, initiatives, and proof-of-concept strategies.

Talent Development:

  • Empower, support, and develop talent to perform to their maximum potential, strengthening the team through capability development, talent management, succession planning, and recruiting.
  • Lead a team of direct managers and indirect analyst reports, ensuring accuracy, thought process, timeliness, and viability of recommendations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements
  • 10+ years' experience in retail/CPG company/consulting with progressively increasing responsibility
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, supply chain, analytics preferred
  • 5+ years' experience building, leading, motivating teams
  • Expert Knowledge of retail, merchandising and end-to-end process in a multi-channel retail environment
  • Broad knowledge of pricing, forecasting, segmentation, cross-functional applications and systems
  • Merchandising experience including pricing, assortment planning, financial planning, item planning, location planning, category management
  • Experience with retail price optimization tools and third-party competitive data providers
  • Demonstrated success in communicating across various levels across organizations, aligning teams to strategic vision, and motivating teams to execute change
  • Analytical mindset with detail orientation and entrepreneurial work ethic - in short, a "general athlete"
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams and efforts to create process efficiencies
  • Proven ability to translate data into insights and insights into action
  • Builds capacity of individuals and teams through effective employee development, involvement, communication, and supervision efforts
  • Ability to present and calibrate on critical challenges on the executive level
