Job description

The International Studies Office will select undergraduate student interns to work in the Education Abroad division for the 2026-27 academic year. Interns serve as a resource for other UVA students by supporting the Education Abroad Advisors and assisting with events and activities.

Interns will play a large role in outreach and marketing for education abroad, including, but not limited to:

  • Event support, including preparation and implementation of major events like Education Abroad Fairs
  • Presentations to various groups throughout the UVA community (e.g., academic classes, CIOs, Greek chapters, residence halls, etc.)
  • Supporting walk-in and phone traffic at International Studies Office front desk
  • Holding regular peer advising hours
  • Developing resources and programming for students interested in education abroad (e.g., Global Week event, student-led pre-departure information session, etc.)
  • Administrative support for Education Abroad team
  • Creating and posting flyers, chalking, and painting
  • Contributing to UVA Education Abroad social media channels
  • Tabling
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Through their work, interns will be able to build skills in critical thinking, problem solving, oral and written communication, public speaking, digital technology, and professionalism.

Previous experience with education abroad at UVA is required.

Interns will be expected to work 10-15 hours per week at a rate of $15.25/hour. Interns work in person with regular time in the International Studies Office and at events around Grounds. This position will accept applications until July 10, 2026.

Education: Current undergrad UVA student
Experience: Previous experience with education abroad at UVA

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
