Construction Project Manager
Location: Hamilton, ON
Salary: $105,000 to $115,000 per year
Job Type: Full-Time

Our client, a well-established General Contractor specializing in ICI, commercial, and multi-residential construction throughout Southern Ontario, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their growing team.
This role is ideal for a construction professional with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects ranging from $500,000 to $25 million. The successful candidate will oversee projects from pre-construction through completion while ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all front-end planning and execution of assigned construction projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to project teams.
  • Coordinate permits, insurance, bonding, and project documentation.
  • Assist with tendering, bid analysis, subcontractor selection, and contract awards.
  • Procure subcontract agreements and purchase orders.
  • Coordinate the timely distribution of drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Chair pre-construction, progress, and coordination meetings.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, change orders, and cost controls.
  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules, including short-term look-ahead planning.
  • Resolve contractual and technical issues with consultants and subcontractors.
  • Prepare monthly project cost reports and monitor financial performance.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and supplier invoices while ensuring accurate cost coding.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and project documentation.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress, quality, and safety.
  • Ensure deficiencies are addressed promptly and efficiently.
  • Coordinate communication between internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Support business development activities through estimating, proposals, and client presentations when required.
  • Work closely with the Site Superintendent to develop and execute project work plans.

Qualifications
  • Engineering degree (Civil, Construction, Architectural) or Construction Management diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of Project Management experience within Ontario's ICI construction industry.
  • Previous experience as a Project Coordinator or similar role is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience managing commercial and institutional construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, estimating, budgeting, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Thorough understanding of Ontario construction practices and health and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience using Procore or similar construction management software is highly preferred.

Preferred Certifications
The following certifications are considered assets:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
  • Gold Seal Certification
  • LEED Accreditation
  • AutoDesk experience
