SUMMARY

The Manager of Technical Pre-Sales Support will serve as a key technical interface between Qcells’ commercial organization and its utility-scale customers across solar PV and energy storage segments. This role is responsible for translating complex customer requirements into technically viable and commercially optimized solutions, supporting the pursuit of new EPC and equipment-only opportunities. The ideal candidate combines technical depth in PV and energy storage design with strong communication and collaboration skills. This individual will actively contribute to project qualification, solution development, and proposal generation across the pre-sales lifecycle. They will work closely with internal teams including Sales, Engineering, Estimating, Procurement, and Project Execution to ensure proposals are not only technically sound but also aligned with Qcells’ strategic goals. This position reports to the Chief Commercial Officer or another management personnel that CEO may designate, and is Hybrid-based in Houston, TX and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. This position may require up to 30% travel.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert for customer-facing sales support, focusing primarily on utility-scale PV module opportunities.
  • Develop technical proposals, including PV module system configurations, layout optimization concepts, and preliminary single-line diagrams for solar projects.
  • Support the preparation of technical responses to RFPs, RFIs, and due diligence requests, specifically addressing module performance, warranties, and technical specifications, in collaboration with sales and other internal teams.
  • Contribute to the development of PV system performance models and energy yield analyses tailored to specific customer project sites and interconnection requirements.
  • Collaborate with module product and engineering teams to provide input on customer needs and ensure alignment between technical solutions and project requirements.
  • Analyze customer requirements and project specifications to inform PV module selection and support commercial strategies.
  • Conduct technical presentations and participate in customer meetings to effectively communicate Qcells' PV module capabilities, technology roadmap, and value proposition.
  • Monitor relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., IEC, UL) impacting PV module integration and system design.
  • Assist with the hand-off process to project execution teams, ensuring continuity of PV module technical information and customer expectations.
  • Participate in internal initiatives to improve technical sales processes and tools.
  • Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position.
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by Management.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, with at least 3 years focused on PV module technology, design support, or technical sales.
  • Solid understanding of PV module technology (cell types, encapsulation, certifications), performance characteristics, and relevant integration concepts within large-scale solar farms.
  • Experience in MSA (Master Supply Agreement) review, including Serial defects, Force Majeure clauses, and Sampling rates.
  • Familiarity with Hail testing requirements for PV modules and related customer or project qualification needs.
  • Experience with PQP (Product Qualification Program) report, reliability testing, and third-party audits.
  • Ability to provide Field claim support and coordinate technical issue resolution with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of key industry codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, UL, and NFPA) relevant to solar and BESS projects.
  • Familiarity with PV system design and performance tools (e.g., Helioscope, PVSyst, AutoCAD).
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications, interconnection requirements, and performance guarantees to support the creation of technical designs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical information to various audiences.
  • A collaborative and detail-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering effective solutions.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment, interacting with sales, engineering, and construction teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Master’s degree is a plus.
