Job description

Northstar Aerospace, now part of Avio Aero - a GE Aerospace Company, is a leading independent manufacturer of components and assemblies to the global Aerospace industry. Our principal products include gears and transmissions, accessory gearbox assemblies, rotorcraft drive systems, and other machined and fabricated parts for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. We also provide maintenance and repair and overhaul (MRO) on these platforms

SUMMARY OF POSITION 

This position is responsible for ensuring the safe processing of products that meet customer and Northstar quality requirements in accordance with time standards for her/his assigned area of production.  The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary, and directs the work of 30+ employees. This is a full-time position working Wednesday through Sunday 2:00am to 11:30am.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish daily, weekly and monthly objectives and communicate them to employees

  • Manage the workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules

  • Guide and coach employees while monitoring their productivity

  • Oversee safe use of equipment and work environment

  • Perform verification of production output according to specifications

  • Prepare reports on performance and progress and be able to present them managers

  • Maintain communication between management and employees to ensure that necessary policies are understood and followed

  • Detect issues in efficiency and suggest improvements

  • Consult new employees on how to safely use machinery and follow procedures

  • Ensure strict adherence to safety guidelines and company standards

  • Maintain a positive work environment for employees

  • Help select and recruit staff to fill needed positions within department

  • Ensure direct reports are trained and training is documented

  • Cross train employees to provide a flexible workforce inside and outside area of responsibility

  • Foster a culture of quality and implement identified corrective actions in a timely manner

  • Provide required information to the organization to support EH&S, Sales, Quality, SCM & HR

  • Maintain accurate employee time records and accurate inventory counts

  • Complete projects as assigned as time allows after primary responsibilities are met

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will direct the work of multiple Northstar employees.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED                                                                    

Education Required:  Bachelors Degree.  Bachelors degree in business or engineering is preferred

Experience Required: 5 years aerospace experience plus supervisory experience
